A Series of Residential Communities and a Fake Highway 101
If this part of the old Old Trunk 1 looks residential, It’s because that is just what it is. A series of 7 residential communities – villages – with highspeed interprovincial traffic and commercial hauling passing through . How is that possible you ask? Well with a stroke of a pen – the provincial government of the day simply renamed the existing roadway to be Provincial Highway 101. They then announced they had completed Provincial Highway 101 when they hadn’t. Unbelievable? Well believe it. That is what happened in Digby County, West Nova. “Its only temporary” have you heard that one before? The provincial government has promised the completion of the 101 section at Digby County for years and years. The residents took them at their word – waited patiently like frogs in a pot, while the conditions on this road have taken lives, seriously injured people and destroyed community life as we know it. A concerned citizens group approached WNCC for help and we have adopted the cause for getting Highway 101 completed at Digby County (Marshalltown to Ashmore Bypass) before anyone else is injured or there are any more fatalities .
Digby West Nova – No Longer Passive
WNCC has been pondering the challenges regarding the highway situation, and it’s still clear that relying solely on existing channels won’t be sufficient. It seems that our Government has exercised their plans based on bullshit baffles brains and the citizens of Digby, West Nova don’t complain.
Inaccurate data has been put forth, either erroneously or to create a false narrative on the importance of completing this section of Highway 101. This situation is dangerous and requires rectification urgently. There is a Task Force created by the Municipality of the District of Digby. The West Nova Chamber of Commerce is working together with all stakeholders. There is a firm committed thrust to getting our much needed Highway 101 completed . Commercial 18 wheel trucks, tankers, flat beads, logging trucks and commuter traffic must Bypass these communities on a completed controlled access Highway 101 that has been robbed from the people of Digby and West Nova. What its going to take is an experienced team to lead the battle for what is right and for the community to rally.

Serious Safety Concerns
There is no point in trying to dispute old studies and obviously flawed data. The answer is blatantly clear. This is a Safety Issue of intolerable risk to safety of all residents of West Nova. This is the main transportation corridor – we all must drive this risky and dangerous stretch of road. In light of this, our strategy will build on things that can’t be proven wrong. In this case Can’t is defined as “They would have to come up with credible evidence to prove us wrong”. That won’t happen. We are building public awareness and emotional steam. We will harness the power of the internet. We will leverage our WNCC Ferry success. We will stir the proverbial pot and turn up the heat. We won’t back down.
Public Awareness Campaign
We are launching a grassroots campaign. We have designed signs that can be purchased on our website for those living along this route. We are exploring various options. We will advertise in the local community papers – The Weymouth Bridge and the Clare Shopper. We are looking at space in SaltWire. We will be launching a radio campaign in the near future. We are investigating all aspects of this story that are newsworthy.
Fake Highway 101 – Ghost Highway of Hell
One developing story here is the renaming of the Old Trunk 1 to Highway 101 at Digby County with the stroke of a pen . A Fake highspeed highway. It is the Ghost Highway of Hell. There are lots of bones to be dug up with respect to the FAKE HIGHWAY 101. WNCC is working on multiple lines of enquiry and there are interesting characters involved. Some people will not want bones exhumed. The Blinding Flash of the Obvious is: Recognizing that the existing FAKE high-speed provincial highway running through these residential communities poses insurmountable risk and danger. Let’s emphasize the simplicity and common sense to FINISH HIGHWAY 101 and bypass these affected communities and make West Nova safer for everyone who must use this route. We have no other option but to use this route.
A Billion Dollars of Seafood Travelling Through
The current situation has over a billion dollars of seafood trucked through the affected area not to mention tons and tons of other goods. This is being done on substandard roadway putting everyone at risk. Commercial haulers do not what to drive this type of road – they are being forced to.
Safety and Efficiency
WNCC is Highlighting the inherent risks of having high-speed traffic in a residential zone, school bus zone – especially when it’s designated as a Provincial Highway 101 series. These commercial truckers don’t want to be passing within inches of homes and hazards on this stretch. Completing Highway 101 and bypassing the affected communities not only ensures safety but also enhances efficiency, aligning with the broader interests of our community and world.
Common Sense & Safety
With trucks needing to slow down, climb up hills and taking longer to get to their destination, it pollutes and costs time and money. The safety risk to everyone is now being placed where it belongs – on the Province.
Taking Charge
By taking charge of our narrative and concentrating on the undeniable need for a bypass and the final completion of Highway 101, we can reshape the dialogue and make a stronger case for our cause. WNCC looks forward to hearing your thoughts and collaborating on a strategy that aligns with the shared goal “FINISH HIGHWAY 101”
